POSTAL HISTORY
DS26
1905 (12th September), large piece being part of a telegraph form, applied with the complete set of six values of the Victoria Falls issue, plus two ½d Arms (SG 75, 94-99, all perf. 14 except 1d perf. 14½), each cancelled with a bold strike of the single circle BRITISH ASSOCIATION / VICTORIA FALLS datestamps in black. Superb and fresh. A wonderful and RARE item.

Note: the official opening of the Victoria Falls bridge was on the 12th September, 1905 (Occupation Day). Professor Darwin, the then Chairman of the ‘British Association for the Advancement of Science’, cut the rope on the centre of the bridge where he had been met by Administrator Coryndon. The post office was only open for two hours that day.
