1905 (28th October), BSAC 1d Small Arms Postal Stationery Card (H&G 11). Addressed to Cape Town and cancelled with a KALUNGUISI (28 Oct) double circle datestamp. With FORT JAMESON (20 Nov), Salisbury (14 Dec) and Cape Town (19 Dec) transit / arrival datestamps all struck on the front. Usual (very) minor corner creasing and small split at left, otherwise a very fine example of this scarce cancellation.
Note: the card was sent to the Cape Times newspaper and the message on the reverse reads ‘Xmas Greetings / from a contributor / in central Africa / J.J. Reynard (?) Lake Mweru 27/10 05’. |
