Postal History 1859 (June), envelope addressed to England, endorsed ‘Prepaid’ and bearing a single Perkins Bacon 6d pale rose-lilac triangle (SG 7) with very good to large even margins all round, tied by a triangular COGH cancellation. Cape Town (16 June) dispatch and Chelmsford (29 July) arrival backstamps. With ‘Paid / Devonport / Cape Packet’ (28 July) and London (29 July) transit datestamps struck on the front, the London in red and with manuscript ‘5’ on top. The cover with some edge faults and crumpling, lightly affecting the adhesive. A scarce stamp used on cover, especially in fine condition.
