| 1898 14th November, stampless cover struck with ‘BULAWAYO / MATABELELAND’ sc datestamp, locally addressed. Endorsed in blue crayon ‘2d – T’, and then on reverse ‘Picked up in street by a gentleman & handed to P. O. to dispose of (signed and dated)’. Presumably the recipient was not inclined to pay the charge. Light edge wear at base, otherwise a remarkable and highly unusual survivor. |
