Bearing a single 3d deep claret (SG 39a) tied by a fine strike of the ‘30’ Octagonal Numeral Stamp with a very fine proving strike of SWELLENDAM (24 Aug) single circle datestamp below. Cape Town (25 Aug) arrival backstamp. A few minor peripheral tones though a most attractive cover showing late use of the Octagonal Numeral (introduced in 1849) |
