Postal History 1874 (December), stampless official wrapper with printed ‘Returned Letter / General Post Office Cape Town’. Addressed locally to the Master of the Supreme Court with a Cape Town (12 Dec) dispatch datestamp. The printed contents read “General Post Office, Cape Town, The enclosed Letter not having been delivered for the reason assigned thereon, was opened here, under the authority of Act No. 21 of 1857, and is now returned to the writer, on payment of Postage.” Rust spotting, otherwise fine.
