| 1909 27th September, envelope bearing pair 1d Arms overprints (SG 101), lightly cancelled place not discernible, addressed to Johannesburg. Bulawayo transit backstamp and upon arrival struck with circular 'T 2D' and 'TO PAY' cachets, then applied with Transvaal 2d due (SG D3), crisply cancelled 'JOHANNESBURG 31 DEC 09'. The somewhat battered state of the envelope would imply that it must have been over the 1d per ½oz rate. Unusual outgoing taxed item. |
