| 1892 (6th September), locally addressed envelope bearing a single ‘Vurtheim’ 1d carmine (SG 176) tied by a PRETORIA (6 Sep) squared circle datestamp. The envelope was unclaimed and received strikes of small unframed straight-line ‘GEPUBLICEERD.’ and ‘ONAFGEHAALD’ cachets struck in black or red respectively. The reverse with a fair strike of the boxed ‘ONAFGEHAALDE BRIEVENKANTOOR / ? 93 / PRETORIA Z.A.R.’ cachet struck in blue. Filing hole at top, clear of the adhesive. Very fine and scarce examples of early instructional markings. |
