SOUTHERN RHODESIA
1924 Admirals & Field Marshals
1924 GEORGE V ADMIRALS, SG 1-14  -  STAMPS
SR2639
1924 KGV Admiral 5/-, deep dull blue and turquoise-blue (apparently third printing). Horizontal pair, in combination with Admiral 4d, on piece cut from a parcel label, very fine used cancelled with crisp 'SHAMVA 20 JUN 1930' datestamp. Most attractive and uncommon commercial use. SG 14 group

Note: it is interesting to see that, for a country with a relatively large economically active population, the highest face value postage stamp was a 5/- duty. This remained in place right up until 1953 with the issue of the QE II definitive. This no doubt accounts for the numerous high face value multiples that exist from the KGV and KGVI era
