1947 (17th February), incoming registered envelope from Bechuanaland. Bearing a complete set of the KGVI Royal Visit (SG 132-135) tied by LOBATSI / BECH. PROT. double circle datestamps (First Day of Issue) with an additional strike on the reverse. Lobatsi registration cachet struck in purple. The letter was apparently undeliverable as addressed and was endorsed “Unable to affect delivery Berea . . .” in red manuscript. A large ‘COUNTER DELIVERY’ cachet was also struck in violet across the 3d adhesive.
