1916 (11th August), censored WWI period advertising envelope addressed to ‘The Rudolph Wurlitzer Co.’ in Cincinnatti, USA. Bearing a single KGV 2½d bright blue (SG 7) tied by a CAPE TOWN (11 Aug) double circle datestamp. Featuring an illustration of a piano at left and printed text at top ‘C. BOTHNER Piano Maker, Tuner and Importer / CAPE TOWN & JOHANNESBURG’, subsequently covered by a large bilingual ‘Opened by Censor / Geopend door Censor / 99’ label printed in red. Also showing a ‘PASSED CENSOR / C.14.’ circular cachet struck in grey-blue. Envelope has been opened out for display.
