1896 3d ultramarine SURCHARGED IN FIGURES AND WORDS. ‘½d’ Type A (SG 69) further surcharged ‘Halve / Penny.’ and bar (SG 77). Fine mint with hinge remnant and with small ‘D.G. CROCKER.’ handstamp on the reverse.
Note: in a footnote after SG 82, it is stated these “are not considered issued with authority”. However, Hisey and Bartshe in ‘Orange Free State Philately’ Vol I, p104, state this issue “is perfectly legitimate.”
