Postal History 1902 (27th August), registered envelope addressed to Canada. Bearing a strip of four ‘Hope Standing’ ½d green and a single 4d sage-green (SG 58, 65) all tied by REGISTERED / G.P.O. / CAPE TOWN (27 Aug) hooded datestamps, also by a London (13 Sep) transit datestamp. Readdressed in Canada from Waterford to Preston and with Waterford (26 Sep), Hamilton (27 Sep) and Preston (26 Sep) transit / arrival backstamps. One adhesive crossed by blue registration line, otherwise a fine example of the Imperial Penny Post rate of 1d per half ounce effective from the 25th December 1898, in this case double weight plus 4d registration fee.
