NS4 1820 2nd December, folded lettersheet struck on reverse with mustard colour two line 'NEVIS / DEC 20 820' lightly struck (the millenium portion of the date not used at the time). Addressed to London and rated at '2/2', arrival backstamp dated 30th January 1821 partially over the Nevis strike. The NEVIS strike seen in use between 1815 and 1827. Vertical fold otherwise remarkably clean. Very scarce. £225
NS5 1843 1st August, two page entire dated internally, and relates the economic plight of Nevis at the time and the threadbare existence of the writer, one Alexander MacKechnie. Addressed to his uncle in Glasgow of the same surname and entering the formal mail system at Bristol on the 31st August 1843 where it had a manuscript marking of '2d'. Further endorsed at left 'Missent to Cathcart' and finally reaching Glasgow on the 2nd September 1843, receiving three different backstamps for the same day. A fascinating early letter. Very scarce. £300
NS6 1848 entire on reverse with broken double circle 'NEVIS OC 12 1848' lighly struck in red. Rated at 1/- on front with London arrival mark 'PAID / 8 NO 8 / 1848' on front. The Nevis strike recorded in use from 1844 to 1852. Minor faults, scarce. £150
NS7 1857 29th June, large portion folded paper struck on reverse with black double arc 'NEVIS / JU 29 1857' strike, addressed to London. Rated at '6' with arrival backstamp dated 17th July. This Nevis strike recorded in use from 1844 to 1861, in black for unpaid letters and in red for prepaid. £150
