POSTAGE DUES

RA4236 c1959 'POSTAGE DUE' handstamp on 1d QE definitive, diagonally in violet. Creased, fine unmounted. RARE. See SG footnote

Note: the vast majority of these handstamps originated from a sheet purchased at the time, and subsequently sold to Bridger and Kay in London. All of these then received their violet stamp on the reverse. Very few examples have been recorded without this handstamp, and therefore one can assume that they were acquired from the post office postage due counter. The only other example I have encountered was similarly creased.
