1932 25th January, cover bearing 8d George V Field Marshal and 3d small Falls (SG 18, 21), cancelled 'REGISTERED / BULAWAYO S.R.', and sent registered with black/pink label on the first northbound flight to London. Struck with black straight line 'FIRST OFFICIAL AIR MAIL' cachet and endorsed at top to that effect. Addressed to Nairobi, and as with all of these, involved with both the "City of Basra' and 'City of Dehli' mishaps, finally being delivered and receiving a 'NAIROBI' arrival backstamp dated 7th February. Addressed 'Poste Restante', being returned to Ndola and receiving a violet 'RETOUR' cachet on front. 'NAIROBI / R. L. O.' strikes on reverse and front dated 24th and 27th respectively, then 'RETURNED LETTER BRANCH / G.P.O. SALISBURY' backstamp dated 16th March on reverse. Fine and most attractive.

Very fine, clean.

1937 22nd July, cover bearing pair 1d George VI Coronation (overpaid by ½d, SG 36) cancelled large dc 'BULAWAYO' to Bishop's Stortford, arrival strikes cancelling both stamps. The reduced 1½d Empire Airmail Scheme introduced three weeks earlier, when the use of Airmail labels became unnecessary.

1938 17th October, printed O.H.M.S. cover bearing 1½d George VI (SG 42) machine cancelled 'SALISBURY'. Addressed to H.C. DANN the well known Philatelist and Author. An attractive example of the recently reduced 1½d Airmail rate, and with this rate the use of Airmail labels became unnecessary.

1940 21st January, printed advertising cover the 'SHINGADIA ECONOMIC STORE' sent Airmail and bearing 3d Large Falls and 1/- George VI definitive (SG 35b, 48) cancelled dc 'MARANDELLAS' datestamp to India, arrival backstamp. With the onset of WW II, the Empire Airmail Scheme rate of 1½d was dramatically increased to 1/3 on the 7th September 1939 and remained so until May 1947.
