Note: this variety is often quoted as being a ‘coil’ stamp, which it is not. This presumably arose as a result of the perforations, which are inevitably irregular and coil like in appearance. Close examination shows there is in fact a part double strike along the affected sides. It is our opinion that these varieties are in fact printers waste, resumably incorrectly removed from the printers at the time.
