1901 KEVII 2/6 imperforate COLOUR TRIAL printed in dull purple & (bright) blue on gummed, watermarked Crown CC paper. Affixed to small piece of backing paper (probably ex Appendix sheet D). Fine and most attractive. Very scarce.

1902 Wmk Crown CC, KEVII 2/6 grey-brown and orange, BLOCK OF FOUR showing the variety CENTRE INVERTED. Some reinforced perfs and with the usual creasing, otherwise very fine mint. An extremely rare and spectacular multiple. Robson Lowe’s sale of 16/5/72 (lot 253) offered what was described as the only known block of four. We have been unable to confirm if this is the same block. Barefoot 85a

Issued on 24 August 1903 to Alexander Frazer bearing KEVII 5/- dull purple and blackish green tied by large oval OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR OF MINES / GERMISTON DISTRICT datestamp (24 Aug) struck in violet. The licence was folded resulting in a vertical crease through the stamp.

Bearing KRUGERSDORP / T (18 Aug) office of delivery double circle datestamp with additional unusual boxed straight-line KRUGERSDORP marking struck in black. Few edge tears, though most unusual.
