R3
1966 Independence overprints, including Churchill surcharge. On illustrated First Day Cover cut down at left. The 1/- value without overprint and the 9d with only a trace showing. Highly unusual.

Note: it is very unlikely that an unoverprinted 1/- would have been applied in lieu of the overprinted one, bearing in mind the sentiment at the time. It is possible that this stamp came from the sheet(s) that had the overprint fading and omitted as are known in mint condition. The same comment would apply for the 9d value, and the fact that both appear on the same cover would suggest that they were deliberately applied.
