Note: it is very unlikely that an unoverprinted 1/- would have been applied in lieu of the overprinted one, bearing in mind the sentiment at the time. It is possible that this stamp came from the sheet(s) that had the overprint fading and omitted as are known in mint condition. The same comment would apply for the 9d value, and the fact that both appear on the same cover would suggest that they were deliberately applied. |
