AR638 c1893 printed illustrated envelope headed ‘MATABELE POSTAL JUBILEE’. Being a parody of the British Post Office Envelope featuring a drawing of a young native titled ‘The Royal Male Crawling Into The Royal Kraal ¼ Mile an Hour’ above another of an adult titled ‘The Royal Male 1893 Leaving Buluwayo at 30 Miles an Hour’. Very fine unused and rare thus. £650
MBSA2235 1910 9th February, black and white post card (road scene, endorsed 'Chinsali 9/2/10'), bearing ½d Arms (SG 75), crisply cancelled 'CHINSALI', addressed to Abercorn. Struck alongside with crisp 'MPIKA FE 13' squared circle, then 'KASAMA FE 19' squared circle transit strikes, and finally Abercorn arrival 24 FEB. A most attractive array of strikes. SOLD
MBSA2236 1907 16th March, BSAC 1d Arms postal stationery card (H&G 11), cancelled 'ABERCORN', addressed to England. Struck at upper left with crisp violet oval 'LONDON MISSIONARY SOCIETY / 16 MAR 1907 / KAWIMBE' cachet, then FORT JAMESON 10 APR transit and Manchester MY 18 arrival strikes. Further re-addressed and DROYLSDEN MY 19 squared circle arrival. Most unusual.

Note: the vast majority of early Missionary mail emanates from the French societies. This London based example is rather more unusual. The message written in English refers, apparently, the appointment of a new member and described as 'a very strong, healthy little man'.
SOLD
MBSA2238 1900 Marshall Hole currency card, bearing 1/- large Arms (SG 35). 'BULAWAYO' without stop, ‘ADMINISTRATOR’S / OFFICE’ cachet, square corners. Exceptionally fine and clean for these. £225
